Phone Consultation
What is a phone consultation?
A consultation conducted by phone between you and surgeon, instead of a face to face consultation.
Am I eligible for a phone consultation?
To have a phone consultation, you must be referred by your GP
Am I eligible for a Medicare rebate?
Patients will in fact be bulk billed.
How should I prepare for my consultation?
Set yourself up in a room with little background noise, and good phone reception
What if I need to be examined?
Where your condition is straightforward, this is unlikely to affect your diagnosis or treatment. If your condition is not straightforward, preliminary tests/treatments would be arranged, and you’ll be advised to book your follow up appointment as a face-to-face appointment, to enable your surgeon to examine you at a later stage.
How private is the phone consultation?
The same privacy and confidentiality requirements that apply to face-to-face consultations apply to phone consultations.
What if I need to cancel/reschedule my appointment?
Phone consultations require coordination, so please try to keep your appointment. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us at least 24 hours notice, so someone else can make use of the spot you leave behind.
